3 students charged after lockdown at Absegami High School in Atlantic County, N.J.

GALLOWAY TWP., N.J. (WPVI) -- Three students have been charged after possible threats spread on social media resulting in a lockdown at a Galloway Township high school.[br /][br /]It all began around 10:15 a.m. Wednesday.[br /][Ads /][br /]Galloway police responded to Absegami High School in the 200 block of Wrangleboro Road for the report of a lockdown due to suspicious pictures on social media of students and weapons that were possibly inside the school.[br /][br /]Within minutes of arriving, police say the students in question, a 16-year-old girl and 17-year-old boy, were located and detained.[br /][br /]Explosives trained K9 dogs cleared the school for any related weapons.[br /][br /]The lockdown lasted approximately two hours.[br /][br /]The teens were charged with Creating a False Public Alarm.[br /][Ads /][br /]Shortly after lifting the lockdown, police say another student, 18-year-old Jil Patel of Galloway Township, sent out a group text to students creating another false public alarm.[br /][br /]Patel was arrested without incident on school property.[br /][br /]No injuries were reported.[br /][br /]Anyone with information on the potential threats at Absegami High School is asked to contact the Galloway Township Police Departemnt at (609) 652-3705 ext 344.[br /][br /][/i][br /][Ads /][br /]------[br /][ul][b][li][url HREF="https://wpvitv.formstack.com/forms/breaking_news_6abc" TARGET="blank" REL=""]Send a breaking news alert to Action News[/url][/li][br /][li][url HREF="https://wpvitv.formstack.com/forms/report_a_typo" TARGET="blank" REL=""]Report a correction or typo[/url][/li][br /][li][url HREF="http://6abc.com/apps/" TARGET="" REL=""]Learn more about the 6abc family of apps[/url][/li][/b][/ul]
