PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- One man is dead and two others are in critical condition after a triple shooting in North Philadelphia early Friday morning.

Police responded to 25th and Berks streets just before 2:30 a.m. after multiple 911 calls.

"I just woke up out of my sleep. I heard someone screaming, 'Help me! I got shot, help me!' That's all I heard -- I couldn't see nothing," Shanta Perrin told Action News.

When officers arrived, they found three men suffering from gunshot wounds.

Two 26-year-old men were taken to Temple Hospital in critical condition.

The third victim, identified as 31-year-old Tamir Hill, was also taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Hill was sitting on the steps of his close friend Britany Sweat's home when the gunfire rang out.

"I was upstairs sleeping. My son was down here sleeping, and all we heard were gunshots," she said. "My son was right there, and I think that's what hurt the most because my son just broke down and started crying."

Sweat says those who loved Hill called him Pablo. On Friday afternoon, she was returning from the hospital after visiting her boyfriend, Qua, who was also shot with Pablo and is in critical condition.

"He had to get surgery. His mom said that he's still fighting," she said.

One bullet went through the front door of a nearby property, according to police.

Perrin is cleaning up the broken glass outside her doorstep from the stray bullet that pierced her door.

"We know one bullet went through the front door of a property, and the projectile ended up in the living room. There were individuals in that property. We checked on them, and they're very lucky no one was struck by gunfire in that property where the bullet entered," said Philadelphia Police Department Chief Inspector Scott Small.

She had initially fallen asleep on a chair inside her home, but went upstairs before the gunfire.

"I was on the chair asleep til 1 o'clock. Then I got up and went upstairs, then I heard the gunshots going off, and I just hit the floor at like 2:30 in the morning," Perrin recalled. "If I would have set my head right here, I probably would have got hit, but I got up and I went upstairs."

Police don't have a description yet of the shooter or shooters. They also said they don't know if whoever is responsible arrived on foot or drove by.

As for Perrin, she has other bullet holes in her door from a shooting five years ago.

"I'm thinking I need to go. I need to get out of here. I've been trying to get out of here before when the first one happened in '21," she said.

Neighbors wish the violence would stop.

"It's senseless. It's bad. It is bad for the neighborhood. It's bad for people like me -- scared, paranoid," a neighbor said. "The only thing I can do is pray, that's all."

Friday's shooting remains under investigation.
