The crash happened shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday when the boat's operator, identified as a 39-year-old man, struck a channel marker in Barnegat Bay.
According to New Jersey State Police, the operator was able to navigate the 32-foot Boston Whaler to a residence along Silver Lagoon Drive, where emergency crews responded and rendered aid.
One of the passengers, Michael T. Bereheiko, 26, of Green Brook, New Jersey, was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Two 27-year-old men were hospitalized with serious injuries, authorities said.
A fourth victim, identified as a 24-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries.
There was no word on whether the driver suffered any injuries.
State police have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
