PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A 14-year-old boy is hanging onto life after someone shot him multiple times Sunday night in West Philadelphia, police said.

Police were called to the area of N. 56th and Master Streets for reports of gunshots around 10 p.m.

Police said officers who were first on the scene found the victim with gunshot wounds to the chest and arm.

Officers rushed him to Penn Presbyterian Hospital in extremely critical condition, and later found out he's 14-years-old.

"Part of the incident was captured on video," said Philadelphia Police Inspector D.F. Pace.

Investigators said the surveillance video shows someone running from the scene and that they're trying to figure out if that person was involved.

"We have yet to find any spent shell casings," Pace said. "We don't know if that's because the gun used was a revolver or since we're still processing the crime scene, we'll eventually find some spent shell casings."

Action News was at the scene as officers searched for whatever evidence they could find in the dark.

Detectives will return to the area Monday morning to continue their investigation.
