New video shows the intense flames that broke out around 5:40 a.m. in the 3100 block of Stirling Street. Neighbors were woken up to the sound of glass shattering.
Fire officials say one woman was killed in the fire. A boy and a girl, both believed to be around 10 years old, were pulled from the home.
"Unfortunately, we found two children inside the building who were taken to St. Christopher's Hospital in critical condition," said Philadelphia Fire Department Deputy Commissioner Carl Randolph.
Officials give update on Mayfair house fire
Officials say two men and two other children were treated at the scene.
"I thought it was a dream, I couldn't believe it," said Justin Bond, who has lived in the adjacent home for 12 years.
He escaped out the back door, where he found his frantic neighbor.
"One guy tried to run back in for the kids who were in there. We stopped him before he could run in. We said, 'It's too much!' He would have died if he went back in to try and find them," Bond said.
It took fire crews roughly a half an hour to pull the victims from the home and extinguish the flames.
Officials say there were no smoke detectors inside the house. They urge anyone in need of a fire alarm to reach out to the fire department.
The residential street was closed for hours.
The Red Cross is assisting neighbors with damage to their homes.
"I pray for the people who were hurt in the fire," said neighbor, Jeff Pickford, "I was just blessed to make it out."
