PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Three people were robbed at gunpoint early Sunday in Center City by masked men armed with handguns and what appeared to be an AR-15-style rifle, according to Philadelphia police.
Officers responded around 3 a.m. to the 1500 block of Locust Street for a report of a robbery in progress. Police said three males arrived in a gray Hyundai, got out and approached three individuals on the block while displaying firearms.
Two of the victims complied when the men ordered them to the ground, police said. A third victim was struck in the face with a handgun during an altercation.
The robbers took cellphones, watches, car keys, wallets, driver's licenses and cash before fleeing eastbound on Locust Street in the Hyundai, according to investigators.
The case is being investigated by the Central Detective Division. Police are asking anyone with information to contact the department's tip line at 215-686-TIPS.
