BRIGANTINE, N.J. (WPVI) -- Five people were displaced after a fire heavily damaged a home at the Jersey shore late Sunday night.

Firefighters responded around 11:40 p.m. to the 1300 block of East Beach Avenue in Brigantine, where flames were visible on multiple floors of a three-story home.

According to the Brigantine Fire Department, one person suffered minor injuries.

"The home sustained extensive fire damage to the upper floors, with significant smoke and water damage throughout. Three vehicles on the property were also damaged by fire," the department said in a news release.

A neighboring property also sustained minor damage.

Fire officials said high humidity and limited aerial access complicated firefighting efforts.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation, though authorities said it is not considered suspicious.
