The Volunteers of America Delaware Valley are wrapping gifts with love.
"It's a really beautiful way to celebrate the holidays every year," says Kristen Herrmann, host on 95.7 BEN FM.
At Santa's Workshop in the Cherry Hill Mall, 95.7 Ben FM and the Volunteers of America Delaware Valley have set up their own shop, so to speak. The beneficiaries are families in need.
Our own Karen Rodgers joined in on the Adopt a Family Radiothon. She adopted a family this holiday season, as did Trish Hartman.
"What I love about this is that there's so many different ways that you can help. You can adopt a family. You can donate monetarily, I did the Amazon wishlist, you can just go in, click and order something," said Hartman.
More than 1,000 families have applied for help this holiday season. Pine Hill and Cherry Hill police departments have also stepped in to assist.
Outside the Cherry Hill Mall, they're unloading the Forman Mills Holiday sleigh with gifts and clothing.
"We don't want to just give stuff, we want to give moments for families because everyone deserves to have a good holiday season," said Desiree Atkins with Forman Mills.
It's a tradition that has past recipients returning to give back.
"It's really amazing to see them reach out and do something extra special for somebody else who they know is in the same circumstance as they were in," says Dan Lombardo, the president and CEO of Volunteers of America Delaware Valley.
After 15 years, this Adopt a Family drive continues to be a total success.
