The family eventually recovered the money with help from the Action News Troubleshooters.
Soccer mom Laura Pillard said she registered her sixth-grade daughter for an out-of-town soccer competition that was set to take place.
She said the event was meant to help her daughter pursue her goalkeeping ambitions.
"We were actually committing a weekend to this tournament so my daughter could fulfill all of her goalkeeping dreams," she said.
Pillard said she discovered after signing up, that the date listed on the organization's website had changed.
Since the new date conflicted with the family's schedule, Pillard said she notified the organization that her daughter could not attend.
But she said she received no response.
"No response from them. So, we ended up reaching out to you after months of trying to get some sort of resolution," she said.
A Call for Action volunteer began working with Pillard and offered advice, including contacting her credit card company.
Pillard said the volunteer also reached out to the organization directly.
"First of all, she gave me some great tips. She told me to reach out to my credit card company. And so, I did that. Luckily that didn't have to go very far because Call for Action got right to work and was able to get in contact with the company and everybody," she said.
The Troubleshooters ultimately helped secure a $250 refund for the family, along with an apology from the organization.
"6abc reached out to the company and made it happen for us," she said.
The company told the Troubleshooters it processed a full return to Laura's credit card and that somehow Pillard's request had fallen through the cracks.
