AA tells travelers to come pick up luggage from airport after IT outage, weather issues

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- American Airlines is telling people to come back to the airport Wednesday morning to get their bags.

This, as the airline is still dealing with a backlog of bags after carousels came to a full stop during a brief IT issue Tuesday night, on top of delays and cancellations during thunderstorms.

People were sitting on the edge of the carousels in baggage claim, lying on the floor, and one guy was actually on the belt texting and chilling out, while another chose to stand on the belt.

The baggage carousels for American Airlines flights weren't moving even after planes were cleared to take off again following the ground stop due to technology issues.

American Airlines has the most flights in and out of PHL, since Philadelphia is one of their hubs.

The airline is still sorting out more delays and cancellations than any other carrier.

The weather was also a problem Tuesday night for all airlines, but AA is still sorting out more delays and cancellations than any other carrier.

One passenger is stranded in Philadelphia at least until Thursday morning after connecting flights were cancelled.

"I'm really, really frustrated right now," said Ari Zizzo, from Los Angeles. "I don't know anybody in Philly at all, and they don't offer any hotel or any accommodations when the flight is weather-related canceled."

"They told me my bag is going to arrive at my destination before me," Zizzo added.

When it comes to the American Airlines baggage issue, they're telling passengers to come back to pick up their luggage.
