Appeal filed to stop restoration of slavery panels at President's House in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The legal fight continues over the restoration of historical sites, including in Philadelphia.

The Department of the Interior and the National Park Service have filed an appeal, seeking to counter a recent ruling of a federal judge.

On Friday, the judge ordered all signs that were changed or removed at national parks must be put back up by July 3.

That includes 18 slavery panels that were removed from the President's House at Independence Mall.

If the federal government is successful in its appeal, it would stop the restoration of historic sites ahead of America's 250th birthday celebrations on July 4.
