She says the history-making move is about more than just basketball.
As 100 hopefuls pursued their hoop dreams at the tryouts for the Delaware Blue Coats, Andonian spoke about her own goals coming to fruition.
"I think each step that I've been able to take has been a welcome excitement and surprise," says Andonian. "Each piece of success is really awesome to get to do."
She also just finished her first year with the 76ers in the organization's pro scouting department as VP of Player Personnel, before adding this additional historic new post.
The 30-year-old's journey to Philadelphia included stops with the Houston Rockets, the Memphis Grizzlies, and Duke.
Andonian describes that journey: "So, yeah, each stop has given me something a little bit different, and different types of people to be around, different types of success they've had in different places...I've learned a lot that I can hopefully come and apply both in my role with the Sixers and here with Delaware as well."
Andonian joins a growing number of women making an impact in the NBA now more than ever.
From coaching to the front office, women are making their presence felt in the league.
When asked what she would say to her younger self and to other girls wanting to break into the male-dominated sport, she said, "I'd say stay patient, but I think if you work really hard and continue to do all the right things, the success will come, the roles will come. And the biggest thing I'd say is work really hard and stay at it. Don't give up. And if this is your dream, anyone can do this. If you have the right mentality and right kind of work ethic, and hopefully anyone can achieve these types of goals."
