SOUTH WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- Police in South Whitehall Township, Pennsylvania, pitched in to take a bear into custody.

Officers responded to a call about the bear near the Lehigh County soccer fields early Tuesday morning.

The bear was captured thanks to what police say was a "quick and coordinated effort with wildlife officials."

"He was safely loaded into a transport culvert trap and is currently on his way to be relocated to a much more suitable, wooded habitat far away from our sports complexes," South Whitehall police wrote in a Facebook post.

Both the bear and the officers are safe and unharmed, police said.
