Our volunteer helped her secure thousands of dollars in credits and insurance refunds after a missing bag derailed a longplanned family cruise to Australia.
Sandra Fox who now lives in Orlando had booked the trip with her two sisters and brotherinlaw, paying $3,500 each.
But as the family traveled to meet the ship, a bag containing two visas disappeared, preventing one sister and her husband from boarding.
Fox said her attempts to obtain a refund or credit from the cruise line were unsuccessful, prompting her to reach out to our volunteers with Call for Action.
"You have volunteers who care and they show it. They don't just say it. They show it," Fox said.
She was paired with a volunteer named Bobbie, whom she described as indispensable.
"I think the world of her," Fox said.
Bobbie contacted the trip insurance company, the cruise line and even the company's CEO.
After weeks of calls, she secured a 75% credit toward a future cruise for Fox's sister and brotherinlaw, along with reimbursement from the insurance provider.
"She was just fantastic," Fox said. "So whenever I come to Philadelphia, and I hope it be this year, I'm gonna meet her some kind of way."
Call for Action arranged a Zoom meeting so the two women could finally speak facetoface.
"Sandra, I know you wanted to meet our Call for Action volunteer. So, tadada, here she is," said Nydia Han.
"What she did for me, I mean, she was just, oh man, it was just wonderful what she did. And she got results, positive results," said Fox.
"I was thrilled. I just was thrilled, everyone here was thrilled," said Bobbie.
"When consumers call in, how can they help you help them?" asked Nydia Han. "If people could have their information organized, receipts, pictures, proof of what they're complaining about, that helps us a lot," she replied.
Fox encouraged others to seek help when they need it.
"You know you keep up that program because it's really beneficial really," she said. "I would recommend it to everybody that have any and I tell them, call Bobbie!"
