"Cape May Cares" supports families, children, and senior citizens who are financially in need with various programs.
Many of these are activities to get them involved within their local community.
Their goal is also to educate the youth of the housing authority so they can work their way to a better future.
One of the ways this is achieved is with their tutoring programs.
"They see that someone cares about them enough to come and spend time with them. It's just been an awesome experience working with very incredible people on this island," said Chair of Cape May Cares, Keith Lafferty.
Lafferty was once a resident in Philadelphia's housing authority who is happy to give back to the people of Cape May.
Their theater program, composed by Kate Hathaway, gives children a space to experience music and performing arts.
"People say that when you introduce theater to children, it can totally change their lives...I hope that they just grow from this experience and perhaps have more self-confidence...That's really the purpose of it," said Hathaway.
