One police vehicle was struck during the incident.
Police got a call around 2 a.m. about people stealing a vehicle in the 8000 block of Rowland Ave.
When officers arrived, they saw the group trying to get away in three vehicles.
One of the fleeing vehicles struck the front of a police vehicle, according to officials.
All three vehicles took off from the scene at a high rate of speed.
Two of the vehicles, an Acura and a Honda, were found about a half mile away after appearing to crash.
Police say the Acura, which was reported stolen on Tuesday, struck a traffic pole, tearing it from its base.
The Honda also had rear damage.
Both abandoned vehicles still had the engines running, according to police.
The third vehicle, described as a red sedan, was able to get away and has not been found.
Officials said there is another vehicle that was found on Rowland Ave. with the doors open. Police said they believe the thieves were in the process of stealing this vehicle when officers arrived.
The officer inside the police vehicle that was struck was not injured. However, the vehicle had to be towed from the scene.
Officials say there were about three to four males who were seen fleeing the scene. No one is in custody.
