Her homemade butter-yellow gown with floral appliqué has already drawn millions of views across social media.
"I'm walking you through step-by-step, the whole thing, to show people you totally can do this if you have the drive and are willing to do it. It's achievable," senior Leah Bray said.
Bray has built a large online following by documenting her sewing process, from sketching the design to choosing fabric, hand stitching details, and finishing the dress on her sewing machine.
Her meticulous approach and the intricate floral detailing on her prom gown caught the attention of People magazine, which has featured her twice.
Asked to describe the look and the feeling she wanted it to evoke, Bray said, "One word, 'sunshine', 110%. That is something I try to incorporate into most of my designs. I am a very colorful, bright, fun person, and I love making my own clothes because I get to reflect that."
Bray credits her grandmother, who immigrated to the United States and worked as a seamstress, and her creative mother, Jennifer, as her sources of inspiration.
After graduation, she will take her talents to the Savannah College of Art and Design, where she will major in fashion design.
