An investigation was launched after a 15-year-old sophomore said he had been "jumped" by his teammates in the locker room back in September.
Last month, a grand jury indicted four former football coaches and six players.
Also, the district's superintendent, Dr. Brian Scriven, resigned last week.
In the meantime, the upcoming football season at Cheltenham High School has already been cancelled.
The board said that, moving forward, it will take steps to ensure the safety of students, including assessing all of the district's athletic programs.
