It's been more than five years since Christian Newsome was gunned down in Kensington, and there has still not been any arrests.
"Every holiday, every birthday without him causing a lot of pain to me and my family especially because the murder has not been solved yet," says Gloria Brooks, Newsome's sister.
The family of 29-year-old Christian Newsome is still looking for closure, after he was shot and killed back on June 2, 2020.
They say that Newsome was traveling with a childhood friend in a Jeep at about 11 p.m.
Someone pulled up alongside the vehicle at O and Hunting Park and opened fire, hitting Newsome.
He managed to drive to the 4600 block of Potter Street where he crashed into a tree.
Newsome died a short time later.
His friend was not hurt.
Police have released surveillance video of the suspect's car.
It's described as being a 2009 to 2016 teal green or grey Nissan Maxima, with a temporary registration in the back window, a moon roof, chrome rims and turn signal mirrors.
The suspect is described as being armed and dangerous.
"I pray that one day soon that justice will be served to me and my family. This has been a very hard fight for us all and I will not stop until I get justice for him," says Brooks.
There is a $20,000 reward being offered by the City of Philadelphia for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in this case.
All calls will remain anonymous.
