Crimefighters: Who murdered Carnez Boone?

Sunday, May 18, 2014
NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- There is a reward of up to $21,300 in the unsolved murder of a husband and father who was gunned down in North Philadelphia.

Milton Boone doesn't mince words when talking about his nephew, Carnez Boone.

"He had hit a rough spot in his life and wasn't doing the right thing but he was still a good guy," he said.

The 39-year-old was near the 1900 block of North Myrtlewood Street in North Philadelphia on Wednesday February 5, 2014.

At 6:50 p.m. that night police were called to the area for reports of gunshots.

That's where they found Carnez suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

"My sister - his mother is destroyed," said Boone.

Carnez left behind a wife and 13-year-old daughter.

"We need gun control and it's just crazy out here, we're losing a lot of young people," said Boone.

The Citizens Crime Commission is administering a $1,300 reward and the City of Philadelphia is offering up to $20,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.
