Cyrus was rescued from an auction eight weeks ago.

He was staying at Thornbury Farm when he got stuck in the mud.

Crews had to use a crane to free him.

Action News reporter Sarah Bloomquist was live on Facebook as the horse was freed:

Cyrus has had a rough life, but manager Penny Parker says he's going to a home where he will be happy and loved.

"They've just been such great people. Very supportive, very understanding and this whole thing has been a wonderful experience for me," said Parker.

Parkers says she loves Cyrus so this was a bitter-sweet experience for her.

Images from Chopper 6 HD showed the animal, which Action News is told had been sedated, lying on its side and apparently breathing after a 3 1/2-hour rescue effort.
