Del. family awarded $87 million in Terminix settlement

Spraying a toxic insecticide nearly killed a Delaware family on vacation and has led to an $87 million civil settlement.

The Justice Department says Terminix illegally used the chemical "methyl bromide" at a resort in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The chemical poisoned Steve Esmond and his two teenage sons., who all suffered full or partial paralysis.

Esmond had once run the Tatnall Middle School in Wilmington, Delaware.

The criminal case is expected to be resolved with a $10 million settlement next month.
