But Emily warns that theater snacks can really detour your diet if you're a regular movie-goer.
She explains, "It can be an extra 1,500 calories just in that evening."
First up is popcorn - a movie favorite.
Emily explains movie popcorn packs, "anywhere from 900 to 1,100 calories."
And the calorie count isn't the only diet buster the popcorn packs
"Forty to fifty grams of fat, and that is before you even put the butter on it," Emily says.
She says treat yourself to a small bag and save nearly 500 calories.
So overall, Emily sees movie popcorn as one of the biggest diet detours.
Next up, carb-loaded snacks.
We've got pretzel bites with cheese versus nachos with cheese. Are either of these good?
Emily says, "They are both high in calories. But if we are going to choose the healthier or the better option we definitely want to go with the pretzels."
And skip the wiz.
The pretzels already pack nearly 400 calories without cheese.
"Opt for mustard, and have no calories," Emily suggests.
Emily says the nachos are a diet trap.
"600 calories and close to 50 grams of fat," she explained.
Steering the nachos into our next diet detour.
Classics like hot dogs and pizza have also joined movie theater menus.
Emily says with around 300 calories and protein, the hot dog is the better choice.
"The pizza has about 500 calories," Emily says.
She says the plain pie is also loaded with 15 grams of fat, making it the next diet detour.
The next one is my kind of snack - chocolate!
But chocolate lovers beware, because most candy at the movies are jumbo servings.
Emily says, "The candy servings are anywhere from two to three servings."
Emily says the best chocolate choice is a box of Sno-Caps, or even Junior Mints.
"Both of these packages here are less than 400 calories and anywhere from 10 to 15 grams of fat."
M&M's is our next diet detour
Emily says, "That bag there is 600 calories and 36 grams of fat."
In the mood for a sweet and fruity snack? Emily says don't pick the Twizzlers.
"The Twizzlers are made from high fructose corn syrup... One Twizzler is 40 calories."
With nearly 400 calories for the pack, it's our next diet detour.
Emily says although not the best option, a box of Swedish Fish with 300 calories is the better pick.
Now, you can still have your favorite treats at the theater. Emily says just share them.
You also want to keep in mind if you are adding a regular soda to your order you will also be adding up to 400 calories.
Emily's best advice - don't go to the movies hungry.
