New e-bike safety laws are set to go in effect in the Garden State next month.
Riders must be at least 15 years old to drive an e-bike in New Jersey.
They must also have a driver's license or an e-bike license.
The new laws take effect on July 19. That will also be when e-bikes need to be registered and, in some cases, insured.
The New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission will begin offering appointments to register e-bikes on Friday.
