Miracle Herron, 23, was picking up a sandwich order at a Subway last week when she found herself in the middle of a police pursuit.
"I heard cars screeching, wheels screeching, and police sirens, but I thought it was on the main roads, not coming my way," Herron said.
She was wrong.
Court records show police were chasing Torrance Whitaker, who was wanted on an outstanding burglary warrant. Whitaker fled at speeds up to 100 miles per hour before turning into the neighborhood where Herron was making her delivery.
Herron backed up against her car and froze, hoping to avoid getting hit. Whitaker's car slammed into her anyway. Then, he tried to run from the scene.
Other surveillance video showed that he ran through several backyards before being captured by police and a K-9 unit.
Herron, meanwhile, got up from being hit by a car, grabbed the Subway sandwich she was delivering, and continued on her job.
"I was just trying to make sure that person got their food. I didn't want them to think I stole it. I was just trying to get my bills paid," Herron said.
Herron works full-time at a call center and picks up DoorDash deliveries on the side - a side hustle she says has helped her make ends meet, like so many other young people juggling multiple jobs right now.
After finishing the delivery, the toll of the crash caught up with her. She went to the hospital, where doctors told her the impact would linger for some time. Still, she says she can't shake how much worse it could have been.
"I do feel like it was a miracle that I made it out of that situation alive and that I didn't have any broken bones or anything," Herron said.
Herron says she isn't sure yet when she'll feel ready to return to her call center job. As for DoorDash, she says it's been a good side hustle - but after last week, she's starting to weigh other options to make ends meet.
