The energy was palpable both inside Lincoln Financial Field and at local gathering spots. One young fan summed up the night simply: "The best thing about it is that the red team lost and the green team won," said Da'liyla of Kensington.
From the stands, supporters described a positive atmosphere throughout the game. Diesheer Davis of North Philadelphia said, "Great first game. I appreciated it. I loved the love that everyone shared. There was no violence. Everybody was kind to each other. It felt like brotherly love."
Fans in Bryn Mawr praised the team's performance. "It was really fun and I think the Eagles did really well," said Tyler, while Hunter added, "And Dallas Goedert cooked."
Others watched from Chickie's and Pete's, where loyalty ran deep.
Diane DiDonato of South Philly said the night "brings so much energy and fun and everyone gets together. It's just really nice."
Many fans said they were encouraged by the team's return to action, even while noting areas for improvement. Jeremiah Wells of Yardley, PA said, "First game was great. Offense could have done a little bit better, but it was pretty exciting at the end."
Rich Mazzio of Middletown, DE added, "I thought we got a lead early and the defense kind of fell apart a little bit, but I'm not sure about this new offensive coordinator."
Looking ahead, optimism remained high.
Allie Mazzio of Middletown, DE said she expects "more wins of course."
"My hope is that the defense stays good," Wells said. "Offense line gets a little bit better. Saquon Barkley runs for another 2,000 yards, and we win another Super Bowl."
