Emergency weekend curfew takes effect in Trenton, NJ | What to know

TRENTON, N.J. (WPVI) -- An emergency curfew goes into effect Friday for part of the city of Trenton, New Jersey.

Mayor Reed Gusciora signed the order on Thursday, citing safety reasons.

Businesses in the zone cannot operate between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m., Friday nights through Monday mornings.

The area covers East State Street, between West Canal and South Broad streets.

The mayor said there have been multiple acts of violence in that neighborhood during late-night weekend hours.
