EMR recycling plant in Camden resumes operations after latest fire

CAMDEN, N.J. (WPVI) -- EMR resumed operations on Monday at its Camden, New Jersey metal recycling facility.

The company said the reopening will come in phases, and will be fully operational by Friday.

EMR's license was temporarily suspended after a two-alarm fire on May 29.

In a statement, EMR said it will be instituting a new operating framework to reduce lithium-ion battery fire risk and strengthen incident response.



EMR also said it will have continuous monitoring through a permanent 24/7 Fire Watch, and an "advanced fire suppression system."

The city said there have been 12 fires at EMR over the past five years.
