EVESHAM TWP., New Jersey (WPVI) -- The shelter-in-place order in Evesham Township, New Jersey, has been lifted and a suspect is in custody after a barricade situation Monday morning, according to police.

Officers initially responded to a 911 call around 2:24 a.m. indicating there was an argument and one person was armed with a gun.

Upon arrival at a home on Brookfield Drive in Marlton, Evesham Township officers were met with gunfire and could hear gunshots inside the residence, investigators said.

Police say the suspect, 56-year-old John Fox, barricaded himself inside for roughly six hours.

It's still unclear if anyone else was inside the residence.

No officers returned fire and no injuries were reported.

One nearby home was hit by gunfire during the incident.

Fox was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose and criminal mischief.

Officers recovered several firearms inside the home.

The incident forced police to order a shelter-in-place for residents on Brookfield Drive and Kettle Run Road. Local school bus routes were also detoured in the area due to the incident.
