John Ashton and his son John Jr. walked into their Olympia home only to find it had been ransacked.
When John Junior went to check his room, he got a bigger surprise - the burglar was still standing there.
John and his Dad jumped into action, wrestling the thief to the floor and then tying him up in his own shoe laces and sweatshirt.
"We didn't really want to hurt him, but I wasn't going to let him go," said Ashton.
He's like I'm sorry bro and I'm like you're stealing from my family, my bro, you know," John Junior said.
Police say this is the burglar was 37 year old Tyrone Porter, who has 20 prior arrests, including 4 felony convictions.
If convicted for this crime, he could spend quite some time behind bars.
