They provide free transportation to their site, where students will then receive mentorship from their staff.
The goal is to provide youth with a new avenue to success, and teach them life lessons through golf.
"So it's all about life skills for us. We really just use that game of golf as a vehicle. Things like perseverance, commitment, respect, judgment... These are a lot of life skills that they can translate from on the course, off the course, whether it's in school, in the classroom, at home, with friends, everything like that," said Jake Norton, Vice President of Programming at First Tee-Greater Philadelphia.
"I think at the basic, it provides them a safe green space to play at...They can safely access that play, get them not only involved with the game of golf, but just with all the opportunities that come with it, whether it's employment opportunities, scholarship opportunities and so forth," he continued.
Recently, students from Community Partnership School visited the program at the Walnut Lane Golf Club.
