Fleeing driver in suspected stolen SUV hits cars on Ben Franklin Bridge: Sources

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A driver in a suspected stolen vehicle struck several cars on the Ben Franklin Bridge Friday night while reportedly trying to flee from police, Action News has learned.

Chopper 6 was overhead around 8:30 p.m. as a large police presence was seen on the bridge heading into Philadelphia.

Sources say Camden County Police Department in New Jersey attempted to stop the vehicle before it entered the bridge.

No serious injuries were reported.



Three people, who were reportedly members of an auto theft ring, were taken into custody, and one weapon was recovered, according to sources. The individuals were all known to police for previous crimes associated with vehicle thefts and assaults on police.
