PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The Flyers Charities helped send a Flyers fan a special gift on Tuesday.
Gritty was on hand to welcome 19-year-old Ethan Ruiz and his family to their newly-renovated home in Northeast Philadelphia.
Ethan, who has been battling leukemia since 2024, is this year's Building Hope for Kids recipient.
For the past eight weeks, volunteers worked to transform the Ruiz home to support Ethan's treatment and recovery.
Flyers Charities and St. Christopher's Hospital for Children partnered with local organizations and two companies to make this transformation possible.
