Buy a ticket to a Broadway show or an orchestra concert and you are helping to support one of the many free education programs that the Philadelphia Orchestra & Ensemble Arts provides every year.

The nonprofit partners with the Philadelphia School District to provide arts education.

Sound All Around introduces the youngest listeners from all over the region to the instruments of the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Jazz for Freedom teaches middle schoolers about jazz as it relates to social change.

This spring, Ensemble Arts Philly launched a pilot program, Broadway Bridges Philly, which provides high school students with $10 tickets to shows in the Broadway series.

There are summer sessions for music and theater, and registration is open now for a student matinee series called Set the Stage that teaches elementary and middle school students the ins and outs of musical theater.

And if you're going to see a Broadway show, make a night of it. The City of Philadelphia estimates that from restaurants to hotel rooms, people coming to see the arts pour $4B/year into the local economy.

Bring a bunch of friends to the show and you'll get up to a 40% discount on tickets for groups of 10+.

The stars are shining with the Philadelphia Orchestra for its 125th birthday season. From pianist Emmanuel Ax to cellist Yo Yo Ma and violinist Itzhak Perlman, some of the biggest names in classical music are coming to help celebrate.

Opening night is September 25, with music and artistic director, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, joined by Yuja Wang, on piano.

Days later, principal guest conductor Marin Alsop leads the orchestra in a program featuring a pianist Yun-Chan Lim, described as a 'one-in-a-million talent,' and the world premiere of a piece commissioned by the Philadelphia Orchestra by composer John Adams.

The orchestra's long tradition of innovation is one of the themes of this celebratory season. It was the first orchestra on the radio, on TV and in the movies.

Its second music director, Leopold Stokowski, is famous for partnering with Walt Disney for the 1940 release of Fantasia. Watch the original film and you'll hear the Philadelphia Orchestra playing in the Academy of Music. To celebrate the orchestra's 125th anniversary, the orchestra is performing the music of Fantasia live with the film.

The orchestra is also celebrating its 25th season in the Kimmel Center and the 250th birthday of our nation next year.

To mark the Semiquincentennial, Julia Wolfe has composed a work called The Liberty Bell, and Jazz Legend Wynton Marsalis will premiere his Liberty Symphony, in a concert that combines the Philadelphia Orchestra with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra.

The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts has two new dining destinations.

Commonwealth Plaza is now home to Curtain Call, providing coffee, sandwiches and drinks. It's a café by day, and by night, it turns into a lounge offering beers on tap, cocktails and light bites.

There is also a new restaurant along the Spruce Street side of the building, called Leo, serving coastal Mediterranean food. The restaurant is named in honor of the famed Philadelphia Orchestra maestro Leopold Stokowski.

Chef Chris Cyer created a menu that includes a pre-fixe theater experience leading up to a show, as well as an à la carte menu available Wednesday through Sunday, open to the public.

You can sit at their bar for a tasty appetizer or enjoy a cocktail and take advantage of their happy hour specials.
