QUAKERTOWN, Pa. (WPVI) -- There are growing calls to release students arrested during an anti-ICE protest in Quakertown.

At least five students and one adult were taken into custody after a fight broke out.

Video shows a man, identified as the town's police chief, putting a girl in a chokehold.

The stepmother of one of the arrested students spoke about what her stepdaughter says happened.

"She said she was helping a friend who was being pushed, and she went to help them, and she was shoved. The chief of police said to her, 'you're not going anywhere' and put her in a chokehold," says Allison Reynolds.

The Bucks County District Attorney's Office is conducting an independent investigation into the police response during the protest.
