Plenty of people were outside, dining al fresco, and going for a run to enjoy the warmth on Monday night.
However, on Tuesday, we could hit the highest May temperature on record for Philadelphia.
A Heat Advisory is in effect for the Philadelphia region until 8 p.m. on Tuesday
From the fountains at Dilworth Plaza to water ice at John's in South Philly, as the temperatures spring up, everyone's finding a way to cool off -- even dogs.
With high temperatures in the upper 90s on Monday, and again Tuesday and even into Wednesday, we have entered our first heat wave of the season.
The heat wave comes right before Memorial Day, which is the earliest heat wave since 2017.
The current hottest May day sits at 97 degrees, set on May 30 and 31 back in 1991, according to Meteorologist Payton Domschke.
The air was soupy and thick on Monday, yet some runners persevered.
"The heat doesn't affect our workout. It's a mental thing - it could be hot, cold -whatever. We still out here," said Coach Rick.
The heat is expected to break midweek when a strong cold front brings showers and a few storms on Wednesday evening.
Temperatures should be much cooler as we head into the Memorial Day holiday weekend.
