The 60 minute production blends 360 degree projection with live music performed by an orchestra and choir.
The show tells the story of the cathedral, the city, and the founding of the United States.
"So it was an interesting way to celebrate America 250. We have a little surprise for you in the show too, that it's never been seen before, but we've woven in some patriotic elements because of America's 250 that we won't be seeing in other cities," said Penny Hunter with Luminiscence.
Luminiscence was created by a French-based entertainment company that adapts the production for sacred spaces around the world.
According to the organizers, about two million people have experienced the show globally.
All ages are welcome, and tickets are available online.
"I think right now people are really looking for a way to gather, and they're looking for hope and beauty and connection, and I think that's one of the gifts we can give the city," said Hunter. "It's transformative and to experience that with a thousand other people in one room at one time it's really something special."
Luminiscence will run in Philadelphia through the end of August.
