Investigation alleges fraud, waste, and abuse at two South Jersey nursing homes

A New Jersey state investigation accuses two nursing homes of fraud, waste, and abuse.

The probe with the comptroller's office looked into the Hammonton Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare and the Deptford Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare.

The comptroller says the investigation found neglect of the nursing homes' residents and horrifying conditions, including the sexual assault of two residents and the death of another.

The probe also claims the owners diverted tens of millions of Medicaid funds to themselves, while intentionally understaffing the facilities between 2019 and 2024.

The owners of each facility, Daryl Hagler and Kenneth Rozenberg, have not responded to requests for comment.
