PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- To support senior citizens, this Jefferson Health educator has cooked up something special.

Denine Nalls-Kirby led the "Old Ways" African Heritage Nutrition Class at the Salvation Army Kroc Center Philadelphia.

Participants were senior citizens in the "Golden Gems" program.

All those who attended the classes walked away with a better understanding of plant-based foods and healthy eating.

It's part of Jefferson Health's initiative to offer a variety of free programs both online and in-person.
