It's called "She Gets Around," a sort of unpacking of life and laughs through clothes.
"It takes place in my closet, and I am cleaning it out," Childs explains. "Every outfit tells a story. Some of them are characters that I play, and some of them are personal stories that I tell. It's all about how what we put on represents all the different kind of personas that we put on, as we try to navigate the world and figure out who we're supposed to be in it."
Childs is an actor, a playwright, a comedian and the Producing Artistic Director of 1812 Productions.
She's created over twenty original works for 1812, and this is her latest piece.
Proceeds from this production benefit several non-profits, including Women Against Abuse, National Domestic Workers Alliance Pennsylvania and Dawn's Place.
"She Gets Around" runs through May 17 at 1812 Productions Plays & Players Theatre on Delancey Place in Philadelphia's Rittenhouse neighborhood.
