PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia's Fourth of July celebration resumed just after midnight Sunday after severe storms delayed festivities for several hours.

Crowds returned to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in the early morning hours before The Roots were expected to take the stage for the city's annual concert celebration.

The One Philly: Unity Concert for America had been underway for several hours Saturday evening when attendees were instructed to leave the area due to approaching severe weather.

Fireworks are scheduled to follow the concert.

Officials are encouraging residents and visitors to sign up for event updates by texting AMERICA to 888-777.

An announcement is posted that all concertgoers must leave the grounds due to an approaching thunderstorm during the One Philly: Unity Concert for America on July 4, 2026.
