Video captured by an alert neighbor who just happened to be driving by showed four armed men attacking the victim on Sunrise Walk around 12:15 p.m.
He says, after knocking him to the ground and patting him down, the attackers also demanded to be let inside his home but he refused, knowing his wife was inside.
When the attackers realized they were being recorded as neighbors were walking and driving past, some honking their horns, the assailants headed for a small Volkswagen Tiguan and drove away.
The man's phone, which was recovered a short time later, and jewelry were both taken.
"They put me on the ground and they gun point at my head," said the man, who wished not to be identified.
"In my life, I never saw that I would be targeted to be a victim to get gun pointed. Now every day I walk out the door I'm so scared to walk out of my house," he added.
Philadelphia police say the Tiguan seen on video was recovered on August 5 in North Philadelphia in the 3400 block of West Commissioner Street.
It had been reported stolen on July 25 from the 700 block of W. Lehigh Avenue in Fairhill.
Philadelphia police said the investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.
The incident is just one of a string of crimes neighbors told Action News have happened in recent weeks.
Alleged attempted vehicle and home break-ins, and at least one vehicle theft, has the community on edge.
Neighbors want more security and surveillance in the new community where homes are still under construction. Right now, access appears to be wide open.
"It feels like everyone can come here, watch anyone and then know their routines and just wait for one day and break in or do something stupid," the man said.
"You have a lot of these strange cars pull in that you don't know is for delivery or Amazon. Sometimes you see those people's cars come in, like they do deliveries, but a lot of random cars that come in, you don't know what they're here for," he added.
The man said that by speaking out, he hopes to prevent anyone else from getting hurt. He also hopes neighborhood management will increase safety and security measures.
Action News reached out to Northbank Waterfront Townhomes management and the developer of the community, but did not receive a response.
