Man arrested after alleged assault, hit-and-run at Warrington Twp. Aldi in Bucks County

WARRINGTON TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- A man is facing charges after being accused of hitting two vehicles, as well as assault, outside an Aldi store in Warrington Township, Bucks County.

Police say 68-year-old Michael Edward Smith, from Philadelphia, allegedly became upset because the victim was taking too long to load her vehicle.

During the encounter, Smith allegedly directed a racial slur toward another person, according to police.

When the victim confronted Smith, telling him his words were uncalled for and offensive, Smith allegedly grabbed the victim by the arms and squeezed. The victim told police they felt pain and discomfort, and feared for their safety.



Smith then got back into his vehicle and allegedly hit two parked cars while leaving the scene.

He was later stopped by Southampton police in Huntingdon Valley. Warrington Township police also responded to that location and took Smith into custody.

He was taken to the Warrington Township Police Department, where he was processed and released.
