According to police, the man tackled a woman and then punched her several times in the face and body.

Another woman stepped in and she was pushed to the ground.

A good Samaritan stepped in, police say, and the suspect walked away on 20th Street toward Race Street.

There was no word on a possible motive for the attack.

Authorities described the suspect as being around 6'3" tall wearing sunglasses, a black tank top, black pants, and tan shoes. He also reportedly carried a green bag and a black backpack.

"I just hope that everyone can feel safe in the city they live and work in, that should be a basic requirement for anybody's decent quality of life. I hope that the person responsible for this is caught quickly," said resident Dan Ryan.

Action News spoke with people around the area, who expressed heartache for the victims as well as some fear.

"I try not to walk around here at night time, we're careful," said Sylvie Russo.

"It's something that we don't want to, have to go through," she continued. "I've been living here since after COVID and things have changed since that time. So sad."
