LEVITTOWN, Pa. (WPVI) -- A man is in critical condition after being shot in the parking lot of a Bucks County Wawa on Thursday night.

Bristol Township Police were called to the store in the 3800 block of Bristol Oxford Valley Road in Levittown around 11:55 p.m. for a report of a person who had been shot.

Police say it happened in the parking lot of the convenience store.

One male was found shot and was taken to St. Mary Medical Center and then flown to Penn Presbyterian Hospital in critical condition.

Folks at this busy Wawa were surprised to hear about the violent altercation.

"I've never seen anything, any bad problems here," said Jimmy Adams of Bristol Township.

Police say it was an argument that escalated into a physical fight, ending in gunfire.

"It happens anywhere, everywhere nowadays. In the suburbs, in the city," said Darlene Meekins of Levittown.

Police believe the two males did not know each other before this altercation.

Police have not said what the fight was about or what led up to the incident.

"It's unfortunate that people are solving disputes through weapons that can be deadly," said Meekins.

Police say the shooter did stay at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

Action News reached out to Wawa on Friday and a spokesperson they referred us back to Bristol Twp. Police.

The names of those involved have not been released.

No charges have been announced.

Police are still investigating, but say there is no danger to the community.
