The fire broke out just before 6:30 p.m. Thursday on the 3200 block of Almond Street.
Fire crews arrived to find smoke showing from the basement and were able to bring the flames under control in less than 30 minutes.
Emergency responders pulled a man from the home and rushed him to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. His identity has not yet been released.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
