Man found dead in burning home in Springfield, Delaware County

SPRINGFIELD TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- Authorities say a man found dead in a burning home in Springfield Township set the home on fire then shot and killed himself.

The fire started before 12:30 a.m. Friday on East Thompson Avenue and Granite Terrace.

Heavy flames and thick smoke were showing when crews arrived.



The victim was found on the second floor. He was pronounced dead at the scene.



It took firefighters about an hour to get the blaze under control.

Restoration crews began boarding up the charred out and broken windows.

The victim has not been identified.
