The Marconi Older Adult Program is where seniors join together for camaraderie.
"My favorite part is just every day I come to work with a smile on my face because the seniors are so happy, and so it doesn't really feel like work to me coming in. It feels like I'm coming to hang out with seniors, which is amazing," said Program Coordinator, Kelly Lorenzi.
"Marconi Older Adult program is...an independent day center for Philadelphians, 50 or older, to come here and experience a wide variety of services: fitness classes...technology classes, art classes...Philadelphia has a very large senior population that's often kind of overlooked in the community, and the seniors don't really know what services are available to them and at low cost," she continued.
"Marconi specifically is a division of Caring People Alliance here in South Philadelphia that serves adults over 50. We have about 250 active members," said Luke McKetta, Vice President of Operations & Service Delivery within the Caring People Alliance.
And for Asian-Americans, their "Lotus" program provides a space to be seen and heard.
"The Lotus program started back in 2018... said 'let's start something specific for the Asian-American community...' We've built a community here that's centered around a daily meal, but also a bigger sense of cultural connection and ability to interact with all aspects of our program," said McKetta.
