FISHTOWN (WPVI) -- Neighborhood newcomer Mason Lesser is a 25-year old Villanova native, a former pro surfer and an entrepreneur running a quick-service pizza shop in the hottest restaurant corridor in Fishtown.
Marina's Pizza is named after Mason's grandmother and his mother, who were both named Marina. The shop makes thin-crust New York style pizza and follows a family tradition -- Mason's grandfather had over 50 pizza shops and restaurants around the country, and Mason grew up working there when he was younger. Today, it's still all in the family -- from the recipes to his brothers Bobby and Joey helping out to the name of the shop itself.
Flavor varieties of slices and whole pies include everything from pesto with vodka sauce, to a white pizza with fresh lemons. Menu items also include steaks and salads. The shop opens every day at 11:00am, and stays open until 2:00am on weekends.
