Action News reporter Alicia Vitarelli sat down with the Fantastic Four in Los Angeles and can assure you that they make Marvel's first family feel like a real one.
"The thing is that we had an amazing time together," says "The Mandalorian" star Pedro Pascal, who plays Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic.
"We were already friends and we're all taking the same steps together," he adds. "It's moving because you feel connected with a cast of actors that are deeply, deeply inspiring."
You feel that on screen, and off, with Pascal's superhero wife Vanessa Kirby.
The Fantastic Four: Marvel's first family feels like one in real life
She's Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, who's expecting a baby as part of the plot line. And so is Kirby in real life.
"It was an amazing thing to do it concurrently," Kirby says. "Pretty soon into the movie, there's this huge existential threat that these guys have to galvanize and find a way to save everybody, including themselves and their baby. And that happened concurrently with her having a baby and having a newborn. And that's pretty much every mother I know's journey. They don't stop."
Joseph Quinn plays Sue's younger brother Johnny Storm/Human Torch. He admits that delivering this personal piece to Marvel fans is a little nerve-wracking.
"But I think there's also part of me that's quite excited and proud of my three family members," Quinn says. "For that to be encapsulated in something, in a film, for that to be out in the world, feels quite meaningful."
The Fantastic Four, in all of its retro 60s glory, is rounded out by "The Bear" star Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing.
"The Fantastic Four have been around for, you know, 60 something years," Moss-Bachrach says. "The excitement that's already built in, just because of the personal connection people feel with this family long before any of us were doing this, is really inspiring. It's profound to see how much it means to people, and I'm very excited to close the circle and have them see this new chapter."
Together, they face a huge existential threat: the space tyrant Galactus, voiced by Ralph Ineson.
He's bringing this character to the screen for the first time.
"He's quite the character," Ineson laughs. "I think people have been waiting a long time for him to arrive."
Julia Garner is Silver Surfer.
"I got to make quite an entrance, hovering over Times Square," she laughs. "That was my first day on set."
Garner says it's been such a pleasure to be a part of the MCU.
"There's a great responsibility," Ineson adds, "but a great pride."
"The Fantastic Four: First Steps" is in theaters July 25th.
